NUJ 2023 Press Week/ Public presentation of a book ” Media Development in Kogi State 1991-2023

This press Conference is called to announce Preparations Towards The Holding of The 2023 NUJ Press Week That Will Be The Last Lap of Such Exercises In The Life of The Current Administration of The Council As Led BY Comrade Adeiza Momojimoh

Following meetings by the Executive Members and the Congress of the Union, I wish to announce that an abridged form of the year 2023 Press Week of the Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists will commence with Muslim Prayer on Friday, 11th August, 2023 while the Christian prayer will be held on Sunday, 13th August, 2023

This will be followed with road walk exercise for members to keep fit and it is scheduled for Monday 14th August, 2023

The decision of the Council to hold the Press Week in an abridged form is basically due to current hash economic realities of the country.

Therefore, the grand finale is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 16th August,2023 and as part of the programme there will be public presentation of a book titled: MEDIA DEVELOPMENT IN KOGI STATE (1991- 2023).
The book is essentially put together to give an overview account of how the media industry has fared in Kogi State since its creation. The 324 page book will be most useful to Communications students in the tertiary institutions and it will as well be very useful to Journalists, media researchers and the reading public.
In the culture of the union to encourage individuals who are impacting positively on their various communities and people, the Council has carefully selected six notable Kogites for the Union awards

The awardees are:
1.Olu Ade of Ekinrin-Adde, HRM. Olu Anthony Bamgbaiye, CON. and renowned Chartered Account,

  1. The member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem,
  2. Alhaji Ahmed Omeiza Abdullahi OON, a retired Director, State Security Services,
  3. Engineer Isezuo Edward Jatto, a renowned Broadcast Engineer and MD/CEO Jatto FM, Okene,
  4. Dr. Arome Salifu, Chief Executive Officer, Africa Youth Growth Foundation,
  5. Engineer Idah Daikwo of the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja.

The venue of the grand finale is Edge Drive Hotel, Lokoja. Date: 16th of August, 2023, beginning from 10 a:m.

The State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Dr. Yahaya Adoza Bello is the distinguished guest of honour while the dynamic and colourful Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Associate Professor Salish Ogbo is the Chairman of the occassion. The
Chief host is naturally the versatile National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chief Chris Isiguzo while the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo will serve as co-host

The Council enjoins all friends of the media in the state and beyond and the general public to attend the epoch-making occasion.
