Stakeholders from Kogi West Senatorial district on Monday begged President Muhammadu Buhari, President- Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Yahaya Bello to allow the zone produce the next governor of Kogi.

The Stakeholders spoke at the APC ‘Thank You” rally organized by Senator Smart Adeyemi to thank the people of the zone for their supports to the party in the just concluded general elections.

Adeyemi while speaking at the rally organized in Kabba, headquarters of the Senatorial district said the “Thank you” rally was important as the zone gave the ruling party 75 percents of its votes in the last general elections.

He however said the law of natural Justice supports the agitations of the various speakers who want the zone to produce the next governor for the state.

He recalled that since the creation of the state 32 years ago, the Eastern senatorial district of the state, has produced three governors at various times, which spanned for 20 years and the central axis of the state also produced a governor, who will be completing his two term tenure of 8 years while the western senatorial district, has never produced any governor.

He said, “For fairness, equity and justice, the governorship position should move to the Western Senatorial district.

“We urged Governor Yahaya Bello to borrow a leave from the Northern governor who did not look at the strength of Northern population but insisted that power must shift to the Southern Nigeria.

“Not only that, they gave their supports to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to win the presidential election. The northern governors are the true heroes of this democracy.

“If governor Bello toe the part of the northern governor and reciprocate the gesture in Kogi state, he will be remember for many generations to come as the hero of Kogi democracy.”

Adeyemi also urge President -Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to throw his support behind the agitation for Kogi West to produce the next governor, said he was also beneficiary of the APC zoning system that returned power to the South.

Various stakeholders who spoke at the joyful rally including a Commissioner at Universal Basic Education, Amb. Dare Olutekunbi however said if the zone should produce the next governor, Senator Adeyemi should be consider for the position.

“Senator Adeyemi, who is the current senate committee chairman on FCT, has served in the senate for three terms. He his an honest politician, a team player and someone well loved by his peoplle, he his a man of diligence and impeccable character with a zest for selfless service

“His knowledge as a senator and NUJ former president has given him the requisite experience, capabilities and acceptability to make the APC win the governorship election.”

Former chairman of Kabba Bunu council area, Mr. Folorunsho Emmanuel described Adeyemi as a patriotic party faithful, who has contributed so much to the growth of the party. He praised Buhari for allowing power to shift to the South preceding the completion of his tenure by May 2023 and urged the president to allow the same thing to happen in Kogi State.
